Year 7 Testimonials

Year 7 was a huge step for me. I was comfortable at primary school with my friends and all the teachers I knew. Despite the fact I was extremely nervous, I started Stockport Academy with a brave face and the courage to start something new - a new school, with new friendships and most of all new beliefs in myself. Finding new friends is always great and I did this by getting involved in my lessons and also the after school clubs - it's a great way to learn new things and find something you enjoy. Football is my favourite and I was so happy when I found out I was chosen to be on the girls’ football team.”

- Kirsty, ex Alexandra Park Primary student

I was scared before transitioning into high school, but in the first week I made load of friends and developed great bonds with the teachers. Considering I knew nobody going to, or already at, Stockport Academy this place has really given me confidence and done wonders for me! I'm now a Student Librarian, take part in after school clubs four times a week, have amazing friends and teachers who I can trust and most importantly enjoy going to school!

I felt nervous starting a new school, but I have made lots of new friends at Stockport Academy that I see outside of school as well as in lessons. I really enjoy the after school clubs - I have taken part in netball, rounders and art club but my favourite is Dance.”

- Lacey, ex St Matthew's C of E Primary student

Before I started Year 7 I was worried about not finding my classes, being late and whether people would have the same interests as me. On my first day I made a few friends who have now become my best friends. You will be encouraged to sign up for Co-Curricular clubs which at first I did not think I would like, but then I discovered lots of interesting ones such as Manga, Gymnastics, Table Tennis and more. Co-Curricular clubs are a great way to find people who have the same interests as you and make new friends. So far I really have enjoyed being at Stockport Academy, I don’t know what I was worried about!

I was worried about transition to Year 7 as I was moving away from all my primary school friends, but I began making new friends as soon as I walked through the doors at Stockport Academy! From the first day our form tutor has answered all our questions and assured us that secondary school would be an amazing experience.  If I could give one piece of advice to the new Year 7s it would be to never be scared to put up your hand to ask a question or to ask for help.

- Maisy, ex Vernon Park Primary student

On my first day I definitely felt nervous as I only knew a handful of people that went to Stockport Academy. However after my first week I felt right at home - so at home that I had friends in Years 7, 9 and 11! My favourite place in school is The Hub - I love hanging out with Mr Clarke, the Librarian and his manga section! I’m looking forward to Year 8 and everything that lies ahead of me.

- Ted, ex Meadowbank Primary student
