Principal's Welcome

Stockport Academy believes in providing an outstanding education for its students through a relentless pursuit of academic excellence.

Students are also supported in identifying and developing character, in their lessons, around school, in after-school activity and in their lives within their local community.  The atmosphere of the school is one of happiness and fulfilment with the whole school community thriving on high expectations linking to character education in all areas across the school.

Our school is sponsored by United Learning – a group of schools which aims to provide excellent education to children and young people across the country. As a United Learning academy, we seek to improve the life chances of all the children and young people we serve and make it our mission to bring out ‘the best in everyone’ – students, staff, parents and the wider community.  Uniquely, United Learning includes significant numbers of schools in both the public and the private sectors, working together for mutual benefit.

At Stockport Academy, we provide a broad education which prepares young people to progress in learning and to make a success of their lives. We focus sharply on the evidence of what makes it more likely that young people will progress and succeed and make it a priority to provide teachers with professional support and development, so that every child receives an excellent experience.

Whilst academic success is very important, here at Stockport Academy we also believe that there is more to a good education and actively seek to provide opportunities and experiences that help our students become more confident, well-rounded and ambitious young adults. We call this Education with Character - an education that challenges, inspires and excites our students and prepares them for the ups and downs of life. Our curriculum and Future Me programmes directly support this, with a wide variety of activities and experiences available to our students, including university visits and talks by inspirational speakers from the worlds of medicine, law and business.

In recent years we have made huge strides on our journey to becoming an outstanding school. In our modern building with its excellent facilities, we are focused on creating an environment that inspires students each day to take those extra steps that will equip them with the skills to become lifelong learners and valuable members of their local, national and global communities.

We are confident that our commitment to high quality teaching and learning will continue to raise standards at Stockport Academy and we have high aspirations for all our students. Whether you are a parent looking for an excellent school for your child or a teacher looking to progress your career, I hope that what you read here encourages you to find out more about our academy.
