An innovative and exciting curriculum

At Stockport Academy we aim to ensure that all students have a balanced curriculum that inspires and challenges them.

We want students to learn and to enjoy learning. We want students to think and to ask questions. Most importantly, we want students to achieve and to feel proud of their success.

Our approach to curriculum demonstrates our determination to provide opportunities for all students to make good or outstanding progress and to attain at least 8 GCSEs or equivalent.  We use a wide range of teaching and learning strategies to ensure that students are actively involved in their own learning. We also ensure that links between the different Key Stages are made clear so that students can ensure they take their knowledge and experience with them from one stage to another and can use this to their benefit.

A Key Stage is a stage of the state education system, which sets the educational knowledge and progress expected of students at various ages.

If you would like to find out more information about our curriculum and you can't find the details you are looking for on our website, please email us and we will forward your enquiry on to the relevant department.

Changes to the National Curriculum

In the next few years we will see many changes to the National Curriculum in secondary schools; some will affect all students and some will affect only a few.  The changes are many, however please be assured that the Academy has considered these changes for some time and we have planned appropriately in order to embrace them and ensure a smooth transition.

For more information on how your child might be affected, please click here to read about Progress 8, or here for a lowdown on the full curriculum, national performance and accountability measure changes.
