As a whole, the school saw a strong increase in students’ performances from 2024, with over 60% of students awarded a grade 4 or higher in English and maths this year.
As the entire school community celebrates these outcomes, there were some students in particular who earned particularly impressive results, including:
- Twins Charlotte and Jessica, who both achieved an incredible eleven grade 9s and five grade 8s between them;
- Victor, who achieved eight grade 9s;
- Lolex, who achieved five grade 9s, a grade 8 and a grade 7;
- Jessica, who achieved five grade 8s;
- Emily, who achieved two grade 9s and six grade 8s;
- Johnny, who achieved three grade 9s and three grade 8s;
- Joe, who achieved six grade 8s;
- Leen, who achieved seven grade 9s and three grade 8s;
- Jackson, who achieved three grade 9s and three grade 8s.
Thanks to these outcomes, students will be going on to study at local colleges including Aquinas and Xaverian Colleges.
Mrs McCann, Principal of Stockport Academy, said:
“What our Year 11s have achieved in their GCSEs is a testament to their continuous efforts not only this year, but each year since they joined us as a Year 7 cohort. We are pleased that so many of them are celebrating outcomes that will – along with the skills, knowledge and character they have each gained – allow them to move forward with confidence. I wish them all the best in their exciting futures.
“Today marks the end of what has been a fantastic year here at Stockport Academy, following our ‘Good’ Ofsted in January and all the amazing contributions and achievements of our students. I would like to thank all of our staff and the wider school community as always for their support of our students and the school.”
Victor, who is going to study Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Physics at Aquinas College, added: I have enjoyed my time at Stockport Academy so much and I’m going to miss this school for a long time. I’m glad I achieved my grades and hope I continue to do as well when I get to college!”
