Students Celebrated at Stockport Academy Prizegiving

Our annual Prizegiving ceremony brought the Stockport Academy community together once again for a memorable evening of celebration.

Held at the iconic Stockport Plaza Theatre, the event showcased the many ways students have excelled both inside and beyond the classroom.

Families, staff, governors and guests gathered to celebrate success across a wide range of categories, from academic attainment and progress to attendance, leadership, enrichment and contribution to school life. The evening reflected the values that sit at the heart of Stockport Academy, highlighting the determination, commitment and ambition shown by students throughout the year.

A special feature of the evening was an inspiring address from guest speaker Steve Hill MBE, who spoke passionately about the importance of resilience, perseverance and setting ambitious goals. Drawing on his own experiences, he encouraged students to believe in their potential, embrace challenges and continue aiming high in everything they do.

Music also played a central role in the celebrations, with the school choir delivering two outstanding performances. The evening opened with an uplifting rendition of Dream On, setting an inspiring tone for the event. The choir then returned to close the ceremony with their own unique interpretation of Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill, bringing the audience to its feet and providing a fitting finale to a night dedicated to achievement and aspiration.

Mrs McCann, Principal, said: "Prizegiving is one of the highlights of the school year and an opportunity to recognise the incredible achievements of our students. We are enormously proud of everything they have accomplished and the positive contribution they make to our school community. The evening was a wonderful celebration of their success, and we look forward to seeing what they achieve next."
