Eight Y10 students took part in a hands-on workshop designed to spark interest in storytelling and media production.
The event was led by professionals from ITV Academy, including a storyliner and creative coordinators, who guided students through the process of developing their own soap-style narratives. The day was organised through our partnership with Manchester United Foundation (MUF).
Students began the day by exploring the Coronation Street Experience and taking photos around the set.
They then worked in groups using cast character cards to build their own storylines.
Each group invented a brand-new character and explained how they would fit into the Coronation Street universe.
After presenting their ideas to the ITV team, they received feedback on their creativity.
The day ended with a guided tour of the Coronation Street set. Students had the chance to walk the famous cobbles, pose for photos in iconic locations, and even meet some of the cast members from the show — a memorable highlight that brought the experience to life.
Mr Bramley, MUF Partnership Officer at Stockport Academy, said:
"It was fantastic to see our students working together so creatively. Experiences like this show them how their ideas can come to life in real-world settings."
