Students covered 14.5 miles across a route that took them along the Monsal Trail and through Over Haddon, Bakewell and Ashford. Carrying their own equipment as well as tents for their walking groups, they navigated the route while working together to overcome the challenges of the expedition.
After a demanding first day, students spent the night camping at Mandale Farm Campsite before setting off again to complete the final stages of the expedition.
Throughout the weekend, students showed outstanding determination and a positive attitude. One of the standout moments came as the final group approached the last checkpoint. Despite having completed their own routes and feeling the effects of the journey, other groups stayed behind to applaud their fellow participants across the finish line.
The expedition also attracted praise from members of the public, who commented on how polite, respectful and well-mannered the students were while out on the route.
Mr Sherwood, Positive Behaviour and Engagement Lead and DofE Co-ordinator, said:
"Our students showed tremendous resilience, teamwork and independence throughout the weekend, particularly when things became challenging. The support they showed each other at the end of the expedition was a fantastic example of our school values in action, and I am incredibly proud of everything they achieved."
