Stockport Academy Performance Awards Evening a night to remember
/ Categories: News, Enrichment
The achievements within our Performing Arts and PE departments were celebrated at a lavish awards evening in the final week of the Spring Term.
Over 100 students were invited to the ceremony at the Village Hotel in Cheadle, where they enjoyed a sumptuous three-course meal before the presentations began.
The guest speaker for the night was Team GB Olympic Gold Medallist Jason Gardener, who opened the night with a truly inspirational story about his journey from schoolboy to Olympic Champion. Jason then kindly took the time to pose for photos with clearly awestruck students ahead of handing out trophies and certificates.
Presentations were made to students involved in Dance, Drama, Music and Sport at the academy - you can see pictures of all the award-winners in the gallery below - and the night ended with a disco.
Head of Expressive Performing Arts Mrs Campbell, who organised the evening, said: “This is the first time we have held a Performance Awards Evening at Stockport Academy and it was a resounding success!
It was amazing to get so many hard-working students who are extremely passionate about sport and the arts in one room to celebrate their achievements over the last year and hopefully it will be a night they remember for the rest of their lives.”
