Enrichment - Film Club

Film Club students have access to state-of-the-art technology at Stockport Academy, including green screen and stop animation tools.

When and where does Film Club take place?

Tuesdays & Wednesdays in 121 (the lecture theatre). Occasionally in a computer room (when reviewing films or editing films). We start at 2.40pm and finish at 3.30pm.

What does Film Club involve?

One of the great things about Film Club is that there are loads of different aspects to it - from watching films and analysing them to making them ourselves!

For example, one week we might be watching a movie while munching on popcorn Mrs Nakielska has made, before talking about CCC (Colours, Characters and Camerawork) and SSS (Sounds, Settings and Story) the week after.

We also review films on the Film Club website and enter competitions in doing so.

One of the most exciting things is when we start our own film projects, which involves planning, making and editing our own movies that are then entered into national contests. We use the school's state of the art equipment and assign jobs - camerapeople, sound, directors - like a real film crew!

Why should students take part?

If you love talking about, watching and making movies, then this is the enrichment activity for you!

There is a real opportunity here to learn about the film industry, become a movie critic and develop analytical skills. On top of this, you can have a go at storyboarding, scriptwriting, camera operating and film editing - it'll certainly keep you busy!
