Student Leadership

Responsible for the strategic direction of the student house leadership teams.

You will:

• Be a role model for all students, reflecting the core values of Aspiration, Respect and Community
• Create a community asset mapping process to identify societies, charities and organisations within our local community that we may work with
• Work with Heads of House to plan, organise and resource a charity event and a whole school event per house, setting objectives for the Aspiration Leader teams in the delivery of these activities
• Guide the Aspiration Leaders on the termly topics for student voice and support in the consolidating and reporting on feedback to staff and students in assemblies

Contributing to school improvement plans through student voice and managing the Community Leader team in the delivery of high-quality house and whole school events.

You will:

• Be a role model in school, reflecting our core values of Aspiration, Respect and Community
• Lead assemblies to deliver key messages and promote engagement in house challenges
• Organise termly student voice feedback on life at the Academy
• Create a ‘You Said, We Did’ model of reporting student feedback
• Work under the guidance of the Y11 House Captains on a partnership event with a local charity, society or organisation

Representing your school community and supporting house and whole school community events.

You will:

• Be a role model in school, reflecting our core values of Aspiration, Respect and Community
• Actively support your house and encourage house team members to contribute to the activities of their house and enter challenges
• Support with the setting up and running of house community and charity events, taking the opportunity to promote engagement in assemblies
• Support with Open Evening, offering families tours and insights into life at the Academy
• Support all Parents’ Evenings, offering refreshments and helping students and parents/carers with queries
• Design and manage a cross-house community Christmas lunch with Y9 Pastoral Manager

Environmental awareness and community support.

Working with Manchester United Foundation (MUF), you will represent your house in the Eco Reds initiative.

You will:

• Represent your school professionally and with excellent commitment at all times
• Attend a launch event at Old Trafford.
• Work with MUF on completing a digital booklet to complete several tasks in your school and local community throughout the academic year.
• Receive training on project and action planning.
• Look at setting up action plans to promote clothing recycling and sustainability in school.
• Be prepared to manage a small number of students in your house in delivering the project objectives.
• Drive a team of students in maintaining the school grounds – eg litter pickers.

Students will support their peers in the library. One student from each house will also represent their house on our Student Council.

You will:

• Assist students with their book choices
• Help promote library competitions and the library as a whole
• Shelve and order books
• Assist with classifying books
• Make sure that the library runs smoothly
