The evening was a true celebration of aspiration, respect and community, with awards presented across a wide range of categories. From academic excellence to leadership, attendance to extra-curricular involvement, the event showcased the incredible talent and dedication of students from across the school.
Among the most prestigious honours were the Principal’s Award and the Governors’ Award – the latter nominated by parents and carers – recognising students who have gone above and beyond in their school journey. A special moment came as students were awarded for an incredible five years of 100% attendance, demonstrating outstanding commitment and resilience.
Other awards included:
- Form awards for effort and attainment
- Year 10 subject awards
- Maths and English awards
- Leadership and House System awards
- Extra-curricular achievement awards
- Primary School Awards, with winners from Cheadle Heath, Alexandra Park, Meadowbank and St Matthew’s primaries
The ceremony was opened and closed by the school choir, with over 100 students delivering powerful performances that set the tone for a truly memorable evening.
Guest speaker Leah Chowdhry – the first British Asian woman to swim the English Channel – inspired the audience with her story of overcoming adversity. Despite being diagnosed with dyslexia, Leah has written her own book and raised hundreds of pounds for charity. Her message about mindset and perseverance resonated with students, staff and families alike.
Mrs McCann, Principal, said:
“Prizegiving is always one of the highlights of our school year. It’s a chance to reflect on the incredible achievements of our students and to say thank you to the families, staff and wider community who support them every step of the way. It was wonderful to welcome everyone to the Plaza to celebrate together.”
