Our Y10 Young Enterprise Directors rose to the occasion when they competed at the Young Enterprise Greater Manchester Area Finals, taking on teams from across the region in a highly competitive showcase of enterprise and teamwork.
The team - who named themselves 'Build A Bloom' were assessed across a range of challenges, including a company report, trade stand, interview and final company presentation. The event provided an opportunity for students to reflect on the journey they have taken since launching their business and to demonstrate the skills they have developed along the way.
Build a Bloom focused on sustainability by designing, producing and selling house plants using recycled glass jars, with the aim of reducing their carbon footprint. Their clear sense of purpose, strong teamwork and confident communication stood out throughout the competition.
Judges praised the professionalism and resilience shown by the team, and in a particularly competitive field, their efforts were recognised with a Judges Award - a fantastic achievement at this level of competition.
Their volunteer Business Advisor, Patrick Worthington, from Anderson Quigley said, "It’s been fantastic to observe and support the team on their Young Enterprise journey. I’ve been genuinely impressed by the resilience of the team, how they’ve adapted their plans, learnt valuable business skills, and ultimately finished the programme with a successful, profitable business. They should be so proud of what they’ve achieved, and it is fantastic that their efforts have been recognised by the judges with an award – congratulations team Build a Bloom!"
Mr Lewis, Business Teacher and Young Enterprise Lead, said: “I am really proud of what this team have achieved. They have demonstrated professionalism, resilience and teamwork in abundance. It is fantastic that they were so effective in conveying this to the judges. Well done Build a Bloom.”
The result reflects the hard work and commitment shown by the students throughout the programme and highlights the impact of enterprise education in helping students build confidence, develop real-world skills and aspire to future success.
