Stockport Academy is in the running to be crowned Secondary School of the Year at the national Tes Schools Awards.
It is the third time that we have been named as finalists for the award, having previously come close in 2017 and 2019.
The winner will be announced on Friday 17th June at a gala ceremony at London’s Grosvenor Park Hotel, with school leaders, inspectors and education researchers forming the panel of expert judges.
Principal Mrs McCann said: “We are delighted to announce that yet again we have been shortlisted for the very prestigious Tes Secondary School of the Year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our community for being so ambitious for our students.
“Our staff and students have worked together to provide an exceptional education with character. Staff have worked to ensure that our young people not only academically achieve so that they have access to opportunities, they have also created pathways to develop Future Me characteristics and life skills. We now hope it will be third time lucky when the winners are announced next month!”
Tes Editor and Chief Judge of the Tes Schools Awards Jon Severs said: “This year has seen an incredibly high standard of entries to the Tes Schools Awards. Every teacher and school who has been nominated should be incredibly proud – it’s a fantastic achievement.
“We are looking forward to showcasing, as we do every year, just how vital our education professionals are to every facet of this country.”
