Our GLAM squad is a group of female students who meet regularly with the aim of improving girls participation in exercise.
The GLAM team leads Stockport Academy's Girls Active programme, which is a national initiative driven by the Youth Sports Trust. Research has shown that the work these students do in promoting sports and an active lifestyle among their peers can have a significant positive impact on classmates' attitudes towards not just PE but their own body image.
In the short period our GLAM Squad has been working together, they've already welcomed Paralympic double silver medal winner Claire Cashmore to the school to give a motivational talk to students about getting involved in Sport, while also encouraging participation in Stockport Academy's Club 1 enrichment session - please click here to read more details about what this involves.
