Admissions to Stockport Academy

Stockport Academy offers free education for 1,150 students (900 places for students aged 11-16 plus a Sixth Form for 250 students).  Our current intake at Year 7 is 180 and Year 12 (Sixth Form) is 125.  Every place is free of charge and open to students of all abilities.

The academy admissions policy places emphasis upon family values and equity.  The criteria for receiving a place at Year 7 are as follows: those children who have a brother or sister at the academy are guaranteed a place, followed by other children based on distance between home and the academy.  There is no selection by either ability or aptitute for the specialism (Science).

The only students who would merit absolute priority are (in priority order) children in public care (looked after children), those with a Statement of Special Educational Needs which names Stockport Academy and children for whom it is essential that they be admitted because of special circumstances related to medical and social needs.

Year 7 admissions are dealt with by Stockport MBC Admissions Team, you can find out further details about the admissions process and how to apply by visiting their website here.  The closing date for September 2011 applications is 31st October 2010.

Our Year 6 Open Evening (for September 2011 entry) will take place on Wednesday 29th September 2010 6.00pm - 8.00pm.  If you wish to visit to the academy at another time please contact the Principal's PA, Mrs Denise Clark on 0161 286 0330 or e-mail denise.clark@stockport-academy.org.

If you are seeking admission to our Sixth Form please visit the Sixth Form area of our website for further details about how to apply.
