It is the first time our students have sang at the venue, but it hopefully won’t be the last as they drew in the crowds between 1.30-2pm on Lower Peel Avenue outside Boots and M&S.
As well as drawing cheers and applause throughout their set, many passers-by were kind enough to donate to our Performing Arts fund, with a total of £84 raised in just half an hour!
The group sang a wide range of Christmas classics including Away In A Manger, in addition to more modern festive favourites such as Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree and All I Want For Christmas Is You – the latter of which the choir closed their set with, complete with dance moves! There were also several solo performances, which received a fantastic reaction from the crowd and also fellow students.
After they finished their set, students were given an hour to enjoy themselves at the shopping centre before heading back on the bus to mark the end of their successful Christmas tour.
Over the last two weeks, our choir have performed to several groups outside of school, including Plane Tree Court Nursing Home in Edgeley, Lex Autolease, Wood Grove Court in Hazel Grove and The Rose Walker Community Centre in Cheadle Heath.
Head of Performing Arts Mrs Campbell said: “This year has been our best year yet for Choir and I am so proud of all the hard work this talented group of students have put into their performances – it has definitely paid off!
“It was great watching them perform at the Trafford Centre to so many people and we received so many nice compliments from complete strangers who were blown away by their beautiful singing!”
