Our new Year 7s got off to the perfect start to life at Stockport Academy this week.
They spent a full day with the school to themselves as part of their induction day on Tuesday (7th September), which saw them start off by receiving their brand new ties and learning how to tie them!
After the welcome assembly, they went on a tour of the school in their new form groups with their form tutors, before attending some introductory lessons for the rest of the day.
In Science, students learned about how to use a Bunsen burner safely to achieve their Bunsen licence, while in English they took part in a literature quiz. Every department had planned special lessons to ease them in to their timetables.
When the rest of the school joined them with their return to school on the Wednesday, they were ready to hit the ground running and haven’t looked back since!
They’ve even had their first official school photographs taken this week, with professional photographers coming into school to take individual portrait shots as well as form group photos – these will be available for families to purchase at a later date.
Head of Year 7 Mr Massey said: “Year 7 have had the best possible start to secondary school and it has been brilliant to get to know them. As a year group, their attitude has been exemplary and I think we can expect great things from them over the next five years!”
