Summer School 2014

Summer School is out for the rest of summer... Year 7 students make new friends and have fun!

During the two weeks commencing 11th and 18th August our new Year 7 students were invited into the Academy for our two week Summer School.  Students had a fabulous time and were able to take part in a variety of activities including Film Club, Games Design, Boxing fit club, Arts and Crafts, Cookery, Tank Building, Cupcake Design, Dance, First Aid, Pond Dipping, Rounders, Music and Rhythm, App Design, Team Games, Team Sports and Dance Mats.

During the two weeks students who attended the Film Club made their own short film about this year’s Summer School.  The film can be found here.

Thank you to all the staff who organised and ran activities during the Summer School, we received some great feedback from parents:

“My daughter has attended Summer School for the full two weeks and has enjoyed every minute of it.  I haven’t had any complaints and she has taken part in most of the activities.  I think Summer School is a great transition from Year 6 to Year 7 and my daughter has made a lot of new friends in her year.  The teachers have done a great job.  Thank you.”

“My son has had a fab time at Summer School.  He has enjoyed every day and has also eaten very well!  Fantastic idea to have a Summer School for the children.  Keep it going.”

“Summer School was a brilliant idea for the children.  My daughter has looked forward to coming in each day which was a great feeling for me as a parent.  Thanks to all the staff who have taken time out for the children this summer.”

“My granddaughter has really enjoyed Summer School, great idea for the kids to all get to know each other in a friendly enjoyable way.  She had made lots of new friends during the two weeks and is looking forward to starting in September.  Well done to all the staff that made it possible!”
