Stockport Academy Summer School gets underway

Although the summer holidays are still in full swing, that hasn’t stopped students at Stockport Academy coming in to spend extra time in the classroom.

The academy’s summer school kicked off this morning, welcoming its new Year 7 cohort through the doors for the first time.

Over the next two weeks, students have the opportunity to find their way around the school, make new friends and try their hand at everything from model tank building and playing the steel drums to film-making and learning sign language.

Ms Sorby, who has organised the fortnight, said: “Our Summer School is a fantastic opportunity for new students to get used to being in the academy and meet new friends.

“This is the fourth year we have offered Summer School to our new Year 7s, and we’ve found it really does make a huge difference in helping them to settle in. If you speak to any of the students who have taken part you’ll also find it’s incredibly fun!”

Parents will get the chance to see the Summer School in full swing on the morning of Thursday 20th August when we have our showcase event.
