Stockport Academy’s Public Speaking Club visited Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium as part of a press conference roleplaying exercise.
The group – which recently visited Imagine FM’s radio studios in Stockport Town Centre – spent an hour being shown around the Premier League ground with their personal tour guide.
After being shown the pitch and the trophy room, the ten students were then taken to the underground press room, where they were allowed to carry out their own roleplay exercise. Students took on the roles of winning manager, losing manager and man of the match, while the remainder of the group acted as members of the media and asked post-match questions about each team’s performance.
Once they were done, they all participated in a ‘crossbar challenge’ in the player’s warmup room, before they finally visited the away and home team’s dressing rooms.
Ms Honey, who runs Public Speaking Club, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Manchester City for letting us use their facilities to bring this particular public speaking exercise to life.
“It was a fantastic afternoon and the students were superbly behaved throughout.”
Public Speaking Club takes place every Wednesday between 2.40pm and 3.30pm.
