Our new Reflection Space was officially opened by Councillor Sheila Bailey on 11th November.
The ceremony took place after the school Poppy Drop, with staff and students in attendance as well as Cllr Bailey and colleagues from Lex Autolease and Stockport Homes.
Students will now be able to use the area as somewhere for reflection in the event of a bereavement, while there is also the opportunity for a possible future enrichment club to help maintain and establish the garden.
The space was partially funded through a grant given to us by Stockport Homes which funded benches and a planter, while staff from Lex Autolease kindly spent two days in the October half term creating the are and donated plants and pots. You can see how they got on in the video below:
Before Cllr Bailey cut the ribbon to open the garden, students were invited to hang a crystal from one of our trees in memory of lost loved ones.
Stockport Academy Chaplain Karen Beal said: “We would like to thank Lex Autolease and Stockport Homes for helping to create a wonderful area that our students will be able to cherish for years and years to come.”
