It was always risky planning a sponsored walk for the start of March – but the sun thankfully shone down on our students today as they trekked 9 miles all in the name of charity.
The event – which is the first of its kind that the Academy has organised – saw students and staff leave our site at 9am and head for Hazel Grove to begin their hike.
After taking in some breath-taking sights, they eventually finished their stroll at Lyme Park at around 2.30pm, before having a well-earned rest.
The 40 students were each required to raise a minimum of £20 to take part in the walk, with proceeds going towards this year’s school charity – Macmillan.
“While it could still have been a bit warmer, we’re just glad it didn’t rain!” said Mr McGahey, who organised the excursion.
“As well as encouraging students to participate in an outdoor activity during our Fitness Fortnight, it’s helped to raise money for a very worthy cause – so everyone’s a winner,” he added.
