Stockport Academy Principal Mr McCarron spent a day in royal company on Tuesday (May 12th), after attending the Buckingham Palace garden party.
Mr McCarron was invited to the event in honour of his services to education, after serving 21 years as a headteacher and making a significant impact at all of the schools he has led.
“It was an absolute honour to be invited to Buckingham Palace in recognition of doing a job that I love,” he said. “This was a once in a lifetime experience, and I would like to thank all the staff and students I have had the pleasure of working with over the last two decades for all that we have achieved together.”
Mr McCarron was certainly dressed for the occasion, wearing a three-piece suit – complete with tails – that he ended up posing in during a recent fire drill at the Academy!
Under Mr McCarron’s leadership, Stockport Academy achieved its best ever GCSE results last year and was graded good with outstanding features in its most recent Ofsted report in March this year.
Highlights of the report included the recognition of student behaviour as being ‘impeccable’ and the fact that students ‘are unanimous in the view that they are completely safe in school.’
Congratulations Mr McCarron, you’ve earned it!
