Another record-breaking Open Evening for Stockport Academy

For the third year running, we welcomed a record number of visitors through our doors for Open Evening.
Nearly 600 people visited the academy on Wednesday 20th September, with primary school students and their families taking the opportunity to learn more about Stockport Academy.
There was plenty to see and do over the course of the evening, with every department putting on activities, demonstrations and workshops to give visitors a taste of what life here is like.
Highlights of the night included Mr Campbell’s dazzling Science display, Murder Mystery in History, a Steel Drum workshop in Music, a culinary tour of the world in MFL and the chance to contribute to a Jon Burgerman-inspired artwork masterpiece in Art.
Elsewhere, there were regular performances by the choir and SA Dance Group, while the cast of our upcoming production of High School Musical also put on a teaser for what audiences can expect when they take to the stage in November.
Principal Mrs McCann said: “It goes without saying that Open Evening is one of our highlights of the year and it means so much to everyone at the academy to see so many members of the community coming through our doors to see what we’re all about.
“Thank you to everyone who attended and it was great to hear so many kind words said about the school, its students and staff who have all worked so hard and at such a high standard.
“We look forward to welcoming our visitors to Stockport Academy once again as Year 7 students come September 2018!”
