Stockport Academy driving student ambitions with Lex Autolease

Representatives from the UK’s largest car leasing company Lex Autolease spent the afternoon with Stockport Academy students.

The business, which kindly donated a new school minibus to us earlier in the year, is working with us in an initial three-year relationship to offer students in Year 9 and upwards the opportunity to better prepare themselves for the modern world of work.

This programme was officially launched on September 15^th, with around a dozen members of the Lex Autolease team gathering in the main hall and receiving individual guided tours of the school by small groups of Y9 students, led and organised by our Y9 business leaders.

After being asked to find out interesting facts about Lex Autolease from their guests, the groups then made their way down to the MUGA to explore two brand new cars that had been brought into school for the day.

Stockport Academy Assistant Principal Ms Sorby said: “We’re really excited about getting to work with our colleagues at Lex Autolease and are extremely grateful for the support they will be offering us over the coming years.”

Staff from the company will be returning to the academy in November to carry out mock interviews with Y11 students, while there are also plans to hold CV workshops and offer work experience for Y10 and Y12 respectively.
