Our Public Speaking Club experienced what it might be like to have a career in the radio industry today, thanks to a visit to a local radio station.
A total of four students travelled to Strawberry Studios on Hillgate in Stockport Town Centre this morning, where they met breakfast presenter Paul Willett and sat in on half an hour of his show.
Paul told them all about what it’s like speaking to an audience, how the playout system works and how he reports on the region’s weather and traffic.
It was then the turn of the students to show what they’d learned, as they were allowed to record their own weather bulletins using the studio equipment.
Mr Ashton, who runs the Public Speaking Club, said: “It was a really unique experience to visit Imagine FM and we can’t thank them enough for their hospitality.
“I’m extremely proud of the students, who behaved impeccably and came up with some really intelligent, well thought-out questions. On the way back to school they couldn’t stop talking about becoming radio presenters themselves!”
Public Speaking Club takes place during P6 every Wednesday in the Lecture Theatre.
