Stockport Academy's Evie is red carpet star

Going to the BAFTAs might be nothing more than a dream for some of us, but at the age of 11, Year 7 student Evie Griffiths has already reported from the red carpet!

As featured in a previous story about the successes of our Film Club members, Evie was appointed an IntoFilm Young Reporter after beating students from all over the country in an application and interview process held in London.

The role will see her receive top-quality training on how to become a film journalist – and her first assignment was to return to the capital to attend the Kids BAFTAs.

After arriving first thing on Sunday morning, Evie began by practicing her interview techniques before starting work on filming her report on the day’s events. However, Evie wasn’t there just to cover the ceremony – one of the highlights for her was presenting one of the awards itself.

“I presented the award for the Kid’s Vote for Best TV Show,” she explained. “Thankfully, my favourite programme won, which was really great! I was nervous but had an amazing time.”

On the red carpet, Evie interviewed loads of famous faces – including TV duos Dick and Dom, and Sam and Mark, while she also spent some time speaking to Michael Palin.

Another highlight was interviewing CBBC presenters Kate Thistleton and Ben Shires, who were kind enough to give her some tips about presenting to help her continue her own rise to stardom.

“That was really interesting,” Evie said. “I can’t wait for my next assignment now!”

Well done to Evie, who is a shining example of what you can achieve when you put in the hard work and believe in yourself.

Stockport Academy’s Film Club runs every Monday and Tuesday between 2.40pm and 3.30pm.
