If you’ve never seen the Wizard of Oz on stage before, then this year’s Academy production could be the perfect opportunity.
The first performance has already received rave reviews from parents and staff alike, and tickets are still available for the second showing on Thursday (March 19th). Prices are £5 per adult and £3 per child.
For those unfamiliar with the tale, the story tells of Dorothy Gale, who is transported to the magical world of Oz when she gets caught up in a cyclone. After meeting with a lion, a scarecrow and a tin man, she sets off to find out the answer of how to get home from the mysterious Wizard.
The play features classic songs such as ‘We’re off to see the Wizard’, ‘Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead’, and ‘Over the Rainbow’. Sarah Roberts stars as Dorothy, Fern McEwan the Scarecrow, Ben Ross the Tin Man, and Emily Riley the Cowardly Lion.
Mr McCarthy, production director, said: “I can’t describe how proud I am of everyone who has been involved in putting the show together. The Academy production is a highlight in our busy calendar and the students have certainly lived up to expectations.”
