Lex Autolease donates new minibus to Stockport Academy

Stockport Academy is now in possession of a brand new, 17-seater minibus, all thanks to its business partner Lex Autolease.

The organisation – which is the UK’s largest vehicle leasing company – has teamed up with the Academy as part of a three-year project that has been developed through the Business in the Community partnership.

Some of the school’s Year 9 students have already seen the benefits of the coupling by visiting the company’s site on Heathside Park and seeing first-hand what the modern world of work is like.

As well as supporting the school curriculum and the students’ career development, the donation of the Vauxhall Movano – complete with the Stockport Academy logo – has demonstrated the commitment Lex Autolease has made towards supporting its local community.

The minibus was officially handed over today (April 21st), with Principal Mr McCarron and Year 10 ambassadors Becky Nightingale and Luke Boon receiving a tour of Lex Autolease’s offices before receiving the keys for the vehicle.

They also met with the company’s Managing Director Tim Porter, who said: “Initiatives like the Business Class partnership are an excellent way for us to become more involved with the local community.  The students of today are our prospective employees of the future and we want to help encourage them to be better prepared for life in the outside world when it comes to thinking about a future career.”

Mr McCarron added: “The new minibus will be invaluable in helping our students to access a broader range of activities off site. It will also enable the Academy to invest some of the funds we had set aside for transport into other projects.  We are grateful to Lex Autolease for this donation and their wider support on the Business Class programme.”

A huge thank you to Lex Autolease for their kind donation – we can’t wait to get out and about in style!
