Stockport Academy’s Police Cadets group are no strangers to tackling new experiences and adventures, which is probably why they took their recent orienteering task in their stride.
The 15 students visited Lyme Park last night (17th June) and were told to find their way to the lantern – a large stone building located within the Cheshire beauty spot.
Armed with just an OS (ordnance survey) map and their wits, they trekked about 3 miles over the course for one and a half hours before successfully reaching their destination.
The evening counts towards the group’s work on it’s Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.
Volunteer Police Cadets Team Leader PC Fox said: “This was the group’s first go at orienteering and – as usual – they did themselves proud.
“We are very lucky to be able to visit areas of natural beauty such as Lyme Park and our police cadets had a great time while learning a new skill in the process.”
