Stockport Academy opened its doors to the parents and carers of September’s Y7 students last night (June 25th), as part of its New Intake evening.
The night was an opportunity for them to familiarise themselves with the school and meet their child’s form tutors for the first time.
After enjoying refreshments in the atrium, they were treated to performances by the school choir and steel band, before making their way to the hall for a presentation by Vice-Principal Mrs McCann.
She discussed Stockport Academy’s ‘Believe, Aspire, Achieve, Respect’, mantra, while also explaining policies on things like uniform, behaviour and enrichment.
Parents and carers then made their way to one of six classrooms where their child’s form tutor was waiting to meet them.
Mrs McCann said: “It is a huge step when your child makes the move to secondary school and our New Intake evening is extremely useful to help make everything a little smoother.
“The next step is our Year 6 Transition Day on July 2nd, and of course our Summer School, which runs from August 10th to 21st. We hope to see many of our new students over this fortnight and can’t wait to get to know them.”
