Stockport Academy Rainbow Rumble Celebrates Anti-Homophobia Month

Stockport Academy’s Sports Field was awash with colour as the school celebrated Anti-Homophobia Month in style.

Our Peer Mentors organised a ‘Rainbow Rumble’, which is based on the Hindu Holi Festival – also known as the ‘Festival of Colours’ – that involves participants covering each other in coloured powder.

It’s the second time the school has hosted such an event, with our Colour Bash of 2016 proving to be an instant hit with students that it was only a matter of time before it returned.

Students raised money for charity by selling cakes and treats throughout the afternoon, while participants also had to pay £1 to take part and a little extra if they wanted to purchase further bags of powder paint.

Mrs Saatchi, who leads the Peer Mentors, said: “We had an absolutely wonderful afternoon and it was great to see nearly the whole school come together to celebrate Anti-Homophobia Week.

“Thank you to our Peer Mentors and other students who were involved in putting this event together – it is certainly one we will remember for a very long time!”
