Stockport Academy Christmas Market Kicks Off Festive Season In Style
/ Categories: News
Our annual Christmas Market took place on Saturday, as we opened our doors to the public for a day of seasonal shopping, food and entertainment.
Between 11am-3pm over 50 stalls sold their festive wares, while there were also performances by the Stockport Academy Choir and Steel Band to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.
As ever, our famous Chocolate Tombola was a real crowd-puller, selling out completely by 1pm! In the refectory, there were also delicious Bratwurst and pulled pork sandwiches on sale - if bellies weren’t already full enough from sampling some of the delicious baking and treats on offer from stallholders!
Of course, the Christmas Market wouldn’t be complete without a visit from Father Christmas himself. Santa spent the day sat on his sleigh with his elves confirming every visitors’ place on the ‘nice list’ in time for the big day!
Pikachu and the Minion made their annual appearance to the delight of guests young and old, while they were also joined for the first time by Trolls Princess Poppy and Branch. The day was rounded off perfectly with traditional Christmas songs perfectly played by the outstanding Sale Brass Band.
Principal Mrs McCann said: “Our Market has become the unofficial start to the countdown to Christmas over the last few years and it was great to see so many members of the community choosing to spend their day with us once again.
“Thank you to everyone who attended, especially our amazing staff and students who made this event possible.”
Our Christmas Concert takes place on 7th December and tickets are free – if you would like to come please contact Head of Performing Arts Mrs Campbell to reserve your seat.
